High Holidays Writing Room II

  • 21 Kooyong Road Caulfield North, VIC, 3161 Australia (map)

This time of the Jewish new year is best characterised by the word Teshuvah – to return, to our best selves. Encouraged by the rituals of tashlich and mikvah, and awakened by the Unetaneh Tokef prayer, we are consistently reminded of this Teshuvah theme throughout the high holidays. The ten days in between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur demand much: deep introspection, mindful consideration, a reflection upon the past, and aspirations toward the future.

Yet caught up in the schedule of daily life in a busy September period, the process of Teshuvah is often neglected, falling to the wayside if not for a few, scattered moments of thought.

And so, to help you dive into self-reflection Kehilat Kolenu is creating a pop-up writing room in the heart of Caulfield. Think comfortable couches and quaint desks, a quiet environment, warming mulled wine and a bunch of writing resources to guide you on your journey looking back on 5778 and forward to 5779. Being surrounded by others embarking on their own reflective journeys is far more inspiring than attempting it alone, so come down and fill our Teshuvah space with your ink and memories.

The room will be open on:
- Sunday 16th September from 4-9pm; and
- Monday 17th September from 6pm.

We will supply the paper and pens, but you are welcome to bring your own computers, notebooks, special pens, etc.

Looking forward to writing with you!
This meeting is being held on the land of the Bunwurrung people of the Kulin nation. In holding this gathering, we respect and acknowledge Bunwurrung Elders past, present and emerging.
